Kent Highwaymen brought to Justice

The Highwaymen had ransacked the astros of Kent for a season.
All feared them.
Just the mention of the name Gilbert or Maltman had women screaming and running for cover, and men changing sport and taking up tiddlywinks and scrabble.
They secured promotion to division 2 leaving division 3 decimated in their wake.

It was there own clubmates, the Fives who were charged with bringing them to justice.
And by order of judge Whitney, justice was served.

The game was was fast, fiesty and even ferocious. With sneaky feet, not so sneaky feet and the occasional sliding tackle, the umpires had a job. banter was rife, but the game was important, neither side wanted to lose and the respective team chats reflected that view.

The fives took an early lead with Tom F sweeping beautifully into the net, but those masked raiders were not going to lie down, and equalised quickly. A penalty corner for the fives and "Cool Hand Cox" stepped up to slot neatly home. Again the HWM would not surrender. Again they broke, hit the fives on the break and it was 2 - 2. All square at the break.

The second half saw the fives take more control. The ball was moved quicker and more accurately. The HWM were under pressure but they would remain solid and resolute, foiling attack after attack from the fives. Their midfield of Ravi, Greg and Cookie were a match for the fives and there was even a rumour that the "machine" Leverton was even panting at one point !! But that is just a rumour !!
New recruit to the club "other Paul" was dominant at the back, spreading the ball wisely left, right and over the top, to cries from the crowd "He's not a fifth eleven player" - oh but he is, at least for the minute !!!
The new young blood in the fives performed admirably, with Max and Matt linking well up front, Tom snapping up some goals and Louis bagging even more Man of the Match votes.
Tom Conway in the HWM goal played a super game, saving many a shot on goal, keeping the HWM in contention. But even he had to finally cave in to the pressure. Tom F finishing superbly and "Cool Hand Cox" making it 2 from 2 on his PC's.
Fives get the win, 4 - 2

Thanks to the HWM for a great game played hard to the final whistle. It is plain to see how they had such a strong season and won promotion. good luck for the season gents.

Thanks to Richard and Chris for controlling the game

However we have to finish on a sad note.
One of the fives players has been listed as missing in action !!!
Jamie Cotgreave.
Last seen marauding up the field at full tilt. He was so far up the pitch that he had a nose bleed !!
However he never returned to defensive duties, last seen in the oppo 23. We are hoping that he is found in a military hospital and maybe the thin air that high up the pitch has caused memory loss. Hopefully we can locate this fine soldier and get him match fit for next week !!!

Scorers - Tom Farrant 2, Seb Cox 2

Man of the Match - joint - Paul Matthews, Seb Cox
