In the last encounter Maidstone came from 2 down to equalise, with BOE lucky to score two in the final few minutes. This time was different. There’s really not much to say. We had a showing of 15 players for a match at 4:30 at Maidstone, it was freezing cold, we played as a team, and the strikers scored a tonne of goals. Ollie took the cake with 4, Charlie 3 and Andy with 3. Zac took one. Charlie had another disallowed from a short corner. Objectively, the following happened. The ball was hit above backboard height, going into goal and was deflected into the goal by a defender.
It was 0-3 or 0-4 at half time, with the final score at a whopping 2-11. The umpire was religiously jotting down each goal and it tallied precisely with our strikers’ accounts. Thank you to Maidstone for supplying two quality umpires, much appreciated, as we were unable to. Well done to Paul Whitney, man of the match for a great effort in centre-mid. Credit also to the Maidstone goalkeeper, who (despite what the score suggests) was very, very good.
Maidstone chose to play attackingly, which is shown by the final score with them taking two goals but not having a battalion in defence like so many other teams. There’s not much more to say about the score apart from... well that escalated quickly.
