0-0 at half time, a repeat of last time we met Folkestone (albeit that was at the evil time of a 4:30 pushback for a dark and freezing cold away game).
After ten minutes, With shots flying from all directions, it was Ollie who managed to get one firmly past the Folkestone goalkeeper. The score was now at 1-0, again a repeat of last time, and we could only hope to maintain the score like our last encounter, when we defended fearlessly for about 25 minutes.
A penalty stroke to Folkestone. The shot went to the top left, Sam got a glove to it and it hit the underside of the cross bar, then dropped. It was a bit dubious as to whether the ball fully crossed the goal line, but we'll take the umpire's decision. 1-1.
With ten minutes left, Folkestone got a goal off a short corner, with a big whack from the top of the D. The score went to 1-2.
With 7 minutes left and one goal down, we moved to three strikers from our usual two. In hindsight, we should have also subbed the goalkeeper off the pitch to grab ourselves another field player. But that's the benefit of hindsight.
A special mention goes to Charlie who somehow managed to play after spending the previous day in hospital (too much pizza?). Many thanks to David Golbey for umpiring, and to Folkestone for providing an umpire on such a long trip. Man of the match went to myself (votes, not self-selected...).
