After a swift clean of the changing rooms following the rugby players use, Blackheath L1s settled down to hear Jules’s match advice for the week. With keep it simple ringing in their ears they ran out for a warm up only to find Canterbury in the home dug out…
Keen not to let this psychological move by Canterbury get the better of them, Blackheath started the game with a high tempo putting the pressure on early and earning a number of short corners. Unable to convert, they worked well to keep possession in midfield & defend against the young legs that made up Canterbury’s forward line.
The deadlock was finally broken when Sue got a tap in from a lovely pass from Lotta. 1-0 at half time.
The second half continued with more failed short corners and Emma weaving round numerous players to be awarded them.
Canterbury threw everything into it and earned themselves a short corner. Sarah MB stepped up to make a save (her first & last touch of the ball and arguably the most vital) keeping Blackheath in the lead.
Not enjoying the narrow 1 goal lead, Emma went on a run from the defending D to the attacking D and slotted a second goal in the net to secure 3 points.
Fantastic to score more than 1 goal for a change, Blackheath L1s will be looking to keep it simple again next Saturday.
MOM Emma for her silky skills & runs from midfield
DOD Emma & Freya… just because ?
