On a windy, damp day at College Meadow the ladies 1s took on Sevenoaks and were looking to put last week’s defeat behind them.
The first half saw two evenly matched teams battle for possession. Sevenoaks had some fast, young forwards but our solid defence were more than up to the challenge. The one time Sevenoaks managed to break though and into the D, Sarah made a great save from close range.
Blackheath were getting loads of possession and applying plenty of pressure. Vicky unleashed a great shot across the D. It appeared to hit the inside of the far post and ricochet back out of the goal. 1 - 0 surely but no it was decided that the ball had not crossed the line. The first half finished 0 - 0.
The second half saw more of the same battling with both side evenly matched. Ella’s fantastic distribution created some great chances. One of these fell to Rachel who, with a poachers instinct, slotted it into the goal. 1-0!!!
The slippy conditions were taking their toll with Sarah W, Carlotta and Freya suffering injuries.
Sevenoaks continued to battle hard right ip to the final whistle and with 1 second left on the clock they slipped home an equaliser. The whistle blew for the goal and the end of the game.
MOM - Ella - fabulous defending and distribution
DOD - Hannah - wrong kit
