It was a crisp, sunny, Saturday morning and BEHC W1s headed down the A2 to face Old Williamsonians for their second league game of the season.
The first half got underway and within the first 10-minutes BEHC found themselves a goal down. It was time to wake up - and that we did! From the right corner, a crash ball from Amelia into the D met Laura’s sick for a first time shot to put them 1-1. With the crash of the backboard, Blackheath were awake and back in the game. This fuelled a series of scoring opportunities for BEHC, but unfortunately couldn’t be converted. The counter attacks from Old Willy’s were fast and skilful and they went in 3-1 up at half time - everything was still to play for in the second half.
Unfortunately, the Old Willy’s South African International player and her Barbados counterpart had other ideas as the former weaved in and out of Blackheath on her way to a double hatrick. Blackheath dealt with their press well, but it just wasn’t enough.
The game ended 7-1. POM, Amelie for super strong defence. DOD, Stan for getting older..
Onwards and upwards. Back stronger next week.
