This weekend, we played Burnt Ash (Bexley) 1s in what turned out to be a really tough game in the rain and strong winds. Unfortunately, we lost 3-0, but there were definitely some positives to take away despite the result.
We started the game strong and had some good moments of teamwork and everyone worked hard to put pressure on Burnt Ash, but we just couldn’t make the most of our chances. Throughout the match, we won a few short corners and created some good chances, especially after halftime when we had an encouraging team talk from our coach, Corbyn. We came back onto the pitch determined to score and put pressure on Burnt Ash. However, their third goal came from an unlucky short corner, which was frustrating. Kyveli, our goalkeeper, had a solid performance, making some good saves to keep us in the game, and overall we had some good moments of play and we had some close chances on goal.
Even though the scoreline didn’t go our way, I think we showed great effort and resilience throughout the match. We’ll go back to training this week, work on taking our chances, and come back stronger for next weekend’s game. Huge credit to the team for keeping our heads up despite the conditions—next time, we’ll turn those positives into a win!
