A dedication to storm darragh (roughly the noise I made when stepping out of my front door this morning):
Whilst fraternising with the enemy last night (a burnt ash player), I was told that the oppo were very beatable and it should be a walkover from us, however, we the ones like limbo under ever lower expectations so as always all to play for.
On paper we had good numbers but banksy looking like the ghost of Christmas past stricken with illness meant we weren’t as strong as hoped.
A very slippy pitch caused some imperfect passing (we’ll blame it on that anyway) but we strung together some cracking leads and offensive attacks to end up 1-0 up at half time thanks to some exceptional play by Vicki B to chip up over the goalie and roof it in the net.
Half time talks consisted of a group discovery that there are indeed two sides to the pitch and we should probably try and use both of them.
We then DID use the left side of the pitch and immediately scored that’s Vicky P who immediately went “I TOLD you all I was free on the left”.
Long and short of it Amelia had a great game winning multiple short corners (none of which we did remotely successfully) earning her MOM and I (Stan) earned myself DOD due to the fact that I locked Annie outside accidentally last night at 1:30am.
Onto bowling and a few weeks to resolve our injuries to hopefully start the new year with fewer knee supports present.
