BEHC L1 vs Folkestone

Saturday’s game was the first of many trips the Ladies 1s will take down to the seaside this season. We had an unwanted visitor in storm Amy and an interesting start where the sprinklers wouldn’t stop watering the pitch (or the spectators).

The game eventually started with Annie passing the ball off the pitch on our push back (up for debate what happened there). As they say, start as you mean to go on…
However, everyone quickly got into it and put up a hard fight. Sally and Vicky were flaunting their new sticks, showing everyone who is boss. We pushed on through the first half strong with some lovely runs down the right from Wanni. Our transferring and movement of the ball was brilliant around the back from Stan, Marnie and Kath and we had lots of opportunities in their D. We made them run for those balls, however with half a sub, people were starting to flag and Folkestone took this opportunity in the second half to score 4 goals against BEHC, one from open play and three from short corners.

Nicole decided to rile(y) things up a bit and keep hassling one of the Folkestone defence. This later lead the Folkestone player to have a burst of anger against Annie who was shoved and a card given to the opposition.

We thought BEHC had a chance at the end to scrape one back. A ball in from the top of the D, saved and deflected to the P spot. It was lifted up into the air but it wasn’t good enough for the nimble Folkestone keeper.

An unfortunate score line but we are ready for next week to get the win!
