It was a blustery afternoon at the home ground in Blackheath as the team welcomed a strong visiting side from Sevenoaks. Despite the windy conditions, both teams settled quickly into the game.
Sevenoaks started brightly and went into halftime with a 3–0 lead. Two of their goals came from a skilful runner who broke through the Blackheath defence twice with excellent solo finishes.
Despite trailing, Blackheath kept their heads up, playing positive hockey and battling hard to get on the scoresheet.
The second half was much more balanced. Sevenoaks were awarded a penalty flick, which they calmly converted to extend their lead to 4–0. Blackheath continued to fight for every ball, showing good structure and determination right to the final whistle.
Late in the game, goalkeeper Kyvelli was forced off after being struck on an unpadded part of her arm — wishing her a speedy recovery.
The match was played in great spirits with fair, consistent umpiring that helped keep the game friendly and enjoyable.
MOM: Flick – brilliant skill, composure, and all-round quality throughout the match.
DOD: Marnie – for a collection of spectacular falls and a memorable short-corner mishap!
