The Women’s 1s travelled away to face Marden Russets 1s in what turned out to be a very competitive and entertaining match, finishing in a 3–3 draw.
Marden Russets started strongly and managed to put us under pressure early on, scoring two quick goals to take a 2–0 lead in the first half. However, the team responded well and began to find their rhythm. Nicole got us back into the game with a well taken goal to make it 2–1, shifting the momentum in our favour.
Not long after, we won a short corner and Vicky was perfectly placed to get a crucial deflection, bringing the score level at 2–2 before half time.
Going into the second half all square, the team came out with great energy and determination. Nicole struck again with her second goal of the match to give us our first lead of the game at 3–2.
Unfortunately, Marden Russets managed to find an equaliser later in the half after a 3 vs 1 break against the goal, bringing the score to 3–3, which is how the match finished.
It was a strong team performance with plenty of hard work across the pitch.
Player of the Match went to Wannie for her incredible work rate, including unreal dribbling, tackling, and passing all over the pitch.
DOD (Dick of the Day) went to Nicole after somehow managing to lose her stick at half time.
