Blackheath started the match with some strong passing both in the attacking and defensive halves of the pitch, but a few minutes in to the first half a quick ball through to a Burnt Ash forward saw a mis-trap in the 'D' zoom off in an unexpected direction which ended up the wrong side of the goal line, opening the scoring, 1-0 to Burnt Ash.
Undeterred, Blackheath fought back with some great play up the right-hand side. Banksy working well with Vicky, Sally and Ceri fired a ball up to Emma who reached the D and hit a shot at goal that could not be stopped by a Burnt Ash player, who made an attempt to stop Blackheath levelling the score sheet. 1-1.
In the first half, Blackheath had a few opportunities in the form of short corners. Despite some good routines, well placed balls, strong strikes and attacking play from Sue, scoring on a short corner just wasn't meant to be this week. Burnt Ash scored just before half-time bringing the score to 2-1 in favour of Burnt Ash.
The first half was played during pouring rain, by the second half we had moved through the seasons in to bright warm sunshine, a welcomed change by the players. Unfortunately the score line didn't brighten up for Blackheath during the second half.
A few Blackheath feet in the D lead to some short corners in favour of Burnt Ash. The away team didn't manage to convert these due to some great clearances by Sarah in goal earning her some well deserved votes for MOM. Some great versatility by Amanda in both midfield and defence saw some speedy runs and linking passes being made by Jenna, Karen and Rachael in the middle of the pitch, with Kathryn also making a run up the pitch from left back. But Blackheath couldn't convert this play in to goals due to some great reactions by the Burnt Ash goal keeper.
During the second half, Burnt Ash secured their lead with another 2 goals. Blackheath couldn't find their winning form this week and weren't able to add any more goals to the one already scored by Emma. Blackheath left the pitch at full time determined that next week would be different, not only on the pitch but also off the pitch (including remembering to pick up team-mates on the way to the match). Vicky's forgetfulness won her DOD and Sue was awarded MOM.
