The Ladies 1's suffered a 0-1 loss in a closely fought match against Basildon. The team need to stay focused, and reignite their 'va va voom' to be on top form next week.
The first half saw BOEHC keep possession of the ball. There was great triangular play between Kathryn, Sue and Sally on the left, and Ceri, Vicky and Karen on the right. This created strong attacking play for the forwards Emma, Jenna and Rachael, who were unlucky to not score from open play. More of this team work next week please!
Although BOEHC had most of the play, Basildon were strong on the quick breaks which led to them scoring a goal. This fired up BOEHC to try and get a goal back before half time. Lucy showed great tenacity on the left and Jenny put some good balls through into the D, sadly to no evail.
Unfortunately in the second half the game evened out. Sarah MB made some stirling saves keeping BOEHC in the match and within arms reach of getting a draw. As the final whistle blew BOEHC were left feeling disappointed with a 0-1 loss.
The team's coach, Richard, said "The girls need to pick themselves up and focus on the next game. I have faith their winning ways will return."
MoM - Kathryn for solid work in defence
DoD - Jenny for bad directions to the match (although their were two postcodes on the East website!)
It is also worth a quick mention that Teddy, the teams mascot, made a surprising appearance at the match after being kidnapped during the social last Saturday. Luckily the mascot was not harmed and no ransom had to be paid. The culprit has yet to come forward.
