The captain chose 'We Could Be Heroes' by Alesso as this weeks match day song and the team certainly delivered. Although it was a little slow to start the team picked up the pace as the game went on. The final score was a well deserved 2-0 win!
The team welcomed Grace and Kate back into the side. Both had great games and slotted into the side with ease. Thank you ladies, nice to have you with us!
MoM was Grace who worked hard in the midfield, listening to calls and reacting well to play around her. DoD was Amanda for tackling Vicky, yes a member of her own team! It was a comedy moment which luckily let Karen off the hook with her contribution to the team talk (say no more!).
Words from the team talk before the match included positivity, teamwork, and reacting to rebounds in the D. The latter could not be more true when in the first half BOEHC won a short corner. After the strike at goal, the ball rebounded off the keeper which resulted in scrap in front of goal. Jenna managed to put the ball away in the back of the net to finish the fight. It must be all that boxing training!
There was no time for BOEHC to sit back as Gore Court were strong on the break and closed players down well as they hunted in 2's, even 4's, actually at some points they had their whole team defending behind the ball. Gore Court also had numerous short corners all of which were defended by BOEHC with great passion. Sarah MB's reactions were on fire as she made some fantastic saves!
Vicky, Sally and Jenny worked hard to protect the middle of the pitch and to distribute the ball out wide. Banksy and Karen worked well down the right side of the pitch, along with Ceri who made some great balls down the line. Karen also managed some classic 'Bambi' falls ha ha. Kate positioned herself superbly on the left, adapted well to playing a different system than normal and made some great clearances.
Biggsie made some great runs upfront, and looked back when needed. Lots of long balls made their way through from midfield and defence to the forwards which helped put the pressure on Gore Court. As part of this continued pressure there was a fabulous break upfront in the second half. Amanda got hold of the ball, was one on one with the keeper and made a cracking strike. Boom, goal number 2 scored much to the delight of the team and the captain who gave a big cheer.
All in all a heroic effort by everyone! Hopefully next week will see another win under the team's belts! Song choice still TBC....
