A Draw Secured!

Final score 2-2

Last week at the academy of Walthamstow,
The pitch was covered in a flurry of snow.
This week at home in SE9,
The sun was shining, the weather was fine.

Blackheath ladies started at a fast pace,
Their triangular passes were looking ace.
Gaps appeared in the Redbridge midfield,
But would their defence also yield?

A number of shorts but they didn't crumble
It was up to Blackheath not to fumble.
Then in open play they shot at goal,
The pressure on Redbridge taking it's toll.

1-0 to the home team! Banksy putting it away,
A lovely reminder of how we can play.
Karen then attacked the wing,
Her cross met Jenna who slotted it in.

2-0 to the home team! More cheers from the crowd!
Richard looked on, feeling proud.
Half time on the way - could they squeeze in a third?
Not this time; that would be absurd...

"It's ours for the taking, let's have more of the same"
Was the half time talk, we can win this game!
Redbridge looked defeated, lacklustre at best
Let's really push and put them to the test.

The second half started, was this the same team?
Redbridge were hungry, had more steam.
Where were the gaps in the midfield?
Now Blackheath were starting to yield.

Redbridge won themselves a short,
Blackheath unfortunately had no retort.
The score 2-1 - Blackheath needed to recover,
But more pressure on their defence they were yet to discover.

Redbridge pushed, gunning for a second,
Suddenly a force with which to be reckoned.
Blackheath's short passes were getting blocked out,
Winning this game was in serious doubt.

A Redbridge shot added to their tally,
The Blackheath troop now needed to rally.
2-2 on the board and all to play for,
Just 15 left but enough for one more?

Blackheath ladies kept it together,
This was a storm they had to weather.
They took back possession and the control,
More hungry than ever for the third goal.

They won some shorts, they shot just wide,
Karen hit on target, Netty put it outside.
Another goal remained elusive,
Was the crowd finding this amusive?

Blackheath upped their game for the final ten
The pressure mounting as the ball fell to Jen,
From a timely pass from MOM Kate
Let's put it away before it's too late!

Alas, the final whistle went,
The players all looked a little spent.
One point in the bag, the first of this year,
But it'll be three next week, HAVE NO FEAR!!
