BEHC Ladies 1s were ready to make up for last week's cancellation and start leg 2 of the league on a high. Facing a depleted Maidstone team with only 10 players, BEHC were confident.

BEHC dictated the play early on with some strong attacking runs down the right but were unlucky to come out with nothing. The game continued in this vain with BEHC dominating but struggling to put away a goal. Short, quick 1 2s were soon replaced with hit and hope balls before a welcomed half time whistle was blown.

A confident team talk from Jen and Kate saw the team return to the pitch determined to win.

However Maidstone crowded the D making it hard for BEHC to create space and kept out some well executed short corners. Silky skills Charlie got some super shots off from both right and left and a frustrated BEHC goal was then disallowed for a foot. Nothing wanted to budge the score line.

Some excellent backline switching soon lead to a perfect pass from Charlie to George giving an uncontested shot at goal from mid D. Surely this was it!! But unfortunately the ball flew inches past the left post. Were top of the league going to draw to 10 players eek!!

The drama continued as Sian faced a stick to the head after nearly scoring. Lots of blood and a few stitches later Sian still made the Christmas social - sterling effort!

Casualty removed and the Mens 1s arrived. Suddenly BEHC came to life and a short corner smash to the right post saw Charlie deflect in the first goal of the match at long last. Shortly following this Grace made sure of a top D strike and BEHC were able to breathe again. Phew that was close!!
