On Saturday the Ladies 1s hosted Brom Becks at College Meadow and welcomed back Coach Jules after his illness.

The ladies were keen to bank another win to keep them in second place in what is turning into a hotly contested promotion battle (too soon?).

Blackheath started off strongly with Sally and Jilly controlling the midfield and releasing pass after accurate pass to Carlotta and Vicky who pressurised the Brom Becks defence with their silky skills.

So many balls were being crossed into the D that the Brom Becks goalkeeper seemed mesmerised! Sue took advantage of the situation and sneaked the ball in at the post.

The goal put some fire in the belly of Brom Becks. They whacked the ball as hard as possible down pitch at every opportunity- nearly taking Vicky’s head of in the process- but our defence stood firm. Hannah, Jenny and Banksy soaked up the pressure and released pivotal passes to our midfielders all under the fantastic direction of our inspirational goalie Sarah MB.

Emma L and Alex combined attacking duties with strong tackling and great runs. This hard work led to the second goal before half time which was neatly tucked away by Vicky.

The second half saw Brom Becks increase the pressure but the team showed great tenacity and held firm. Final score 2-0 to Blackheath!

DOD: Emma Hux - having a strop after taking a tumble and not wanting to be subbed off. (unfair in my opinion?)
