Folkstone v Blackheath L1

Blackheath ladies 1s travelled to Folkstone for a top of the table clash on Saturday 26th Feb. Keen to claw back 3 points after narrowly losing the home fixture 1-2, Blackheath were determined to make their mark in the first half. Some nice passing through midfield to the forwards created chances but after 3 short corners Blackheath were still goalless. Folkstone moved the ball around well and with Blackheath turning the ball over too often, they found themselves defending short corners at the other end. Great defensive work and some epic saves from Sarah MB meant that Folkstone also remained goalless therefore 0-0 at half time and still all to play for.
Folkstone came out strong in the second half and controlled most of the play. Blackheath’s defensive play was commendable but a well drilled short corner just found it’s way into the back of the net as Folkstone took the lead.
Blackheath put pressure on Folkstone with some nice attacks in open play but just couldn’t quite put the ball away. Folkstone continued to move the ball around well and on a counter attack added another goal to their tally and sealed the victory at 0-2.
