Gillingham Anchorians (2-1) BEHC 2

This week the 2s faced Gillingham Anchorians 1s
In the first half we had good start with great attacking play consistently getting the ball into their 25. So was unlucky to go 1-0 down so early on due to there well drilled shot corner. This then put us on the back foot with less consistent attacking play causing us to rely on our defenders to keep us in contention. Despite there constant attack Zoe saved almost every one. Then with 5 minutes of the first half remaining due to some very skilled play by the opposition they managed to score again. Causing us to go into half time 2-0 down.

Following the team talk at half time we came back raring to go. After lots of great play in our attacking half we were putting constant pressure on the opposition. This lead to Nell striking an amazing ball from outside the 25 which luckily hit the post and bounced back onto the pitch to be picked up by Isla, who calmly passed to Nicole who was well positioned which lead her to finding the back of the goal. This therefore put us on the front foot and after many attacks we were unlucky to not get a second goal and was eventually beaten by the timer.

So therefore despite Blackheath’s best efforts the score finished 1-2. Unlucky girls, we fought hard and played well as a team but an amazing improvement from last week.
