Blackheath travelled to face Edenbridge this week and ultimately fell to a disappointing 4-1 defeat, despite an encouraging opening period. The away side started brightly, applying significant pressure in the Edenbridge half through the energetic forward line of Rachel, Emily, and Heather. Their early dominance paid off when Matilda expertly converted a short corner, giving Blackheath a deserved lead.
The goal seemed to galvanise Edenbridge, who gradually found their footing in the game. Blackheath, perhaps unable to maintain their initial intensity, saw the momentum shift. Before the half-time whistle, the home side managed to turn the game on its head, scoring twice to take a 2-1 lead into the break.
Following the restart, Blackheath looked to regain their earlier control. However, Edenbridge proved to be clinical in front of goal, adding two further strikes to extend their advantage. Despite the scoreline, Blackheath continued to create opportunities. Heather, Kaitlyn, and goalscorer Matilda all had chances to reduce the deficit, but unfortunately, they were unable to find the back of the net.
