BE 3s, what a team, newly risen to the giddy heights of a division not lacking in clubs with killer instincts, rehearsed routines and start-to-finish fitness, but also blessed with a stream of never-ending subs. No matter, our BEs went with killer-like instincts: a player with virus, another with
gut microbiome doubt and tumbleweed on the subs bench. But hey, BEs scored first, a cracker by Gina from a hit by Emily. Holcombe were stirred up to another level and promptly equalised. They relied on three midfield players, who, after Mirza’s half-time words, were marked closely and reduced the feeding frenzy toward BE's goal, where Caitlin and the defence were having a marvellous time. They did brilliantly against a very good side. BEs Rachel was everywhere all at once. Nat defended amazingly and helped Charlotte. Emily was phenomenal at getting the ball out of the danger zone, and Heidi, with her 0-60 sprints, was eventually rewarded with a wonderful goal. BEs Coach Mirza predicted a 4-0 win; I think that was for Grit, determination to be one of the eleven, no lip to umpires and learning from the experience.
Rachel was voted Player of the Match for her constant attack and harassment. Caitlin volunteered to be Wally of the Match for scoring against herself.
Final Score: Blackheath 2-5.
