After a week off due to the opposition conceding, the Blackheath Ladies 3s were keen to have a run around - the early start and long journey to Dover to play Deal Ladies didn’t damped the enthusiasm and they were chomping at the bit to whack some balls!
Blackheath had first push back and quickly started to dominate the game, resulting in a super goal from newbie Quennie Bongcac, who had kindly stepped in at the last minute due to player illness. The Deal ladies kept up the pressure but were finding it hard to get into the attacking D, until they managed to get the ball past the defence and a one on one with goal keeper Ana equalised the score.
After finishing the first half with a goal each Deal upped the ante and started the second half on the attack, overloading the game and forcing Blackheath into defensive mode. A number of short corners followed until they eventually converted one, making the score 2-1. Not ready to accept defeat, the Blackheath ladies fought back and took advantage of a rapidly tiring Deal. Some great work by the midfield got the ball back down the right end of the pitch and a number of shots were made, until a strike by Kat Allix hit the back of the net.
Final score was 2-2. Woman of the Match was awarded to Susi Lonergan for her relentless determination in the midfield, and Donut of the Day was Quennie Bongcac for her confusion over the 5 metre rule! Well done to the whole team for a fantastic performance.
