BOE welcomed Holcombe to the Meadow for the first game of the season and with newly appointed Coach Jonny Bond at the helm expectations were high.
The U14 lads didn’t disappoint and dominated the game from first to last. From the off they showed superior skill, passing and movement to go into a commanding 6-0 lead at half time. The team carried over their training drills and exercises and implemented them superbly during the match. A combination of individual skill from the likes of Josh Self, Bertie Page and Joe Allen and complete team commitment meant that Holcombe were reduced to a small number of half chances in the first half, all dealt with expertly by Jason Loveless in goal.
The second half started as the first finished with BOE straight out of the blocks to again attack Holcombe with high speed attacking and clinical passing that left Holcombe pinned in their own half for most of the game. A further five excellent goals were scored after the break which meant BOE ran out comfortable 11 - 0 winners.
A fantastic result against one of the biggest clubs in the area with GB Internationals in their ranks. Tougher games will follow but this is a wonderful start. Special praise must go to Coach Jonny Bond who has moulded a superb side in only a handful of sessions.
The futures bright, the futures BOE!
