ALL CLUB PRODUCTS ARE CUSTOMISED WITH YOUR CLUB CREST THEREFORE ITEMS CANNOT BE EXCHANGED OR REFUNDED. PLEASE ENSURE TO ORDER THE CORRECT SIZE WHEN PURCHASING. IF YOU NEED FURTHER ADVICE ON THE SIZING ALL OF THESE ARE AVAILABLE ON THE O’NEILLS WEBSITE.

Please remember to label your kit so that it can returned to you in the event it is left at College Meadow.

GUM SHIELDS

Please ensure your child has a gum shield prior to the start of the season. Gum shields can be purchased at many sports shops and online retailers. If your child does not bring their gum shield to training, they will not be able to play. Please ensure that your child is wearing their gum shield before they step onto the Astro for safety.

HOCKEY STICKS

Hockey sticks are an essential part of the kit. If you haven’t played hockey before and need some advice on purchasing a stick, please ask our hockey coaches they will be happy to help. It is possible to borrow a hockey stick to start with but please ask before your first training session.

HOCKEY SHIN PADS

Please ensure your child has hockey shin pads for their hockey session. Hockey shin pads are specifically designed to protect your ankles from hard balls. Hockey shin pads offer a much higher level of protection than football shin pads.

HOCKEY SHOES

Trainers are perfectly fine to start your hockey journey but though hockey shoes are not compulsory many children purchase a pair when they are in the U10/U12 plus groups. They offer better protection from hard balls and the grip is designed specifically for playing on astro playing fields.

HOCKEY GLOVES – all ages

Please purchase a pair of hockey gloves – Hockey gloves are designed for keeping hands warm during the wet and cold conditions that hockey is regularly played in!

LEFT HAND HOCKEY GLOVE – U10 upwards

The most common hockey glove on the market as it is protecting the hand at the top of the hockey stick and the one that is in the most danger when making a tackle! If you are left-handed you need to buy a right hand glove.

SHORT CORNER MASKS – U14 upwards

Short corner protection is a key part of Hockey for defenders. From U14 and upwards you should know your position and if it is a requirement to purchase a short corner mask. With hockey balls coming towards you at scary speeds defenders that are running out and standing on the line need the best protection possible. Short corner face masks are designed to ensure that defenders are protected from the high ball. They either have a grill or a plastic covering.

SECOND HAND KIT

We have a SECOND-HAND stall for previously worn BEHC hockey kit, hockey shoes, hockey sticks and general sportswear that is run from the College Meadow Pavilion. If you have any old kit that you are happy to donate please bring to the College Meadow Pavilion on a Sunday morning.The stall generally is busiest at the beginning of the season when we have peak donations.
